Welcome to The Normalization of Pollution website.
 

This website contains collections of photographs taken to capture the normalization of pollution in and around New York City. Harmful pollutants, created mostly by human activity, damage the quality of air, water, and land. Even though human beings are the main cause of the destruction of the environment, environmental issues seem distant and are considered normal in everyday life.

 

Through my camera lens, I caught these issues and created a website to show the importance of noticing the growing problem of environmental contamination.

 

With my photographs, I would like others to realize that these issues should constantly be observed and should not be ignored or normalized. People are more likely to listen through pictures or art, rather than words. Photographs are physical proof that the issues exist, while also displaying an artistic element. This way, bringing attention to pollution will be effective and impactful.
